Uniform geometric estimates for sublevel sets

چکیده

This paper reconsiders the uniform sublevel set estimates of Carbery, Christ, and Wright [5] and Phong, Stein, and Sturm [17] from a geometric perspective. This perspective leads one to consider a natural collection of homogeneous, nonlinear differential operators which generalize mixed derivatives in R. As a consequence, it is shown that, in the case of both of these previous works, improved uniform decay rates are possible in many situations.

Geometric Inference on Kernel Density Estimates

We show that geometric inference of a point cloud can be calculated by examining its kernel density estimate with a Gaussian kernel. This allows one to consider kernel density estimates, which are robust to spatial noise, subsampling, and approximate computation in comparison to raw point sets. This is achieved by examining the sublevel sets of the kernel distance, which isomorphically map to s...

Analytic methods for geometric modeling via spherical decomposition

Analytic methods are emerging in solid and configuration modeling, while providing new insights into a variety of shape and motion related problems by exploiting tools from group morphology, convolution algebras, and harmonic analysis. However, most convolution-based methods have used uniform grid-based sampling to take advantage of the fast Fourier transform (FFT) algorithm. We propose a new p...

Abstract: Let f be a real-valued function defined on a triangulated surface S. The persistence diagram of f encodes the homological variations in the sequence of sublevel sets St = f−1(−∞, t]. A point (x, y) in the persistence d...

Stability of Sublevel Set Estimates and Sharp L Regularity of Radon Transforms in the Plane

Thus Tf(x) is the average of f over a curve ”centered at x”. The condition ∂γ ∂t (x, t) 6= 0 ensures that the averaging is smooth; T doesn’t degenerate into a fractional or singular Radon transform. Our goal will be to prove sharp L estimates for T . In the semitranslationinvariant case, this has been done for real-analytic γ(x, t) by Phong and Stein [PS], and for general γ(x, t) (not just semi...

Power Normal-Geometric Distribution: Model, Properties and Applications

In this paper, we introduce a new skewed distribution of which normal and power normal distributions are two special cases. This distribution is obtained by taking geometric maximum of independent identically distributed power normal random variables. We call this distribution as the power normal--geometric distribution. Some mathematical properties of the new distribution are presented. Maximu...
